NoPro Goes to the Starcruiser

Well before No Proscenium did their experts panel on the Starcruiser, they did a prequel podcast of their experience when they made the trip.  Enjoy their first full length show about the Galactic Starcruiser prior to “Last Call at the Sublight Lounge.”

Join special guest host Mikhael Tara Garver, Head of Culture House Immersive and Director of Immersive Experience for the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser as she speaks with NoPro host Noah Nelson and a special panel of immersive entertainment experts as they describe their trip aboard the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser.  Noah is joined on the panel by

Noah begins by talking about what the Starcruiser is NOT, as a means of trying to describe what it IS.  The guests then describe their individual relationships to Star Wars prior to going to the Starcruiser, from long time fan to prior critic of the Star Wars franchise.

To set the stage, the group introduces the listeners to the backstory they created together for their trip on the Halcyon.  As advocates for immersive theatre, they brought their talents to their journey by creating a backstory and characters that would shape some of how their stories would intertwine in their own way with the story that unfolds on the ship.  While not everyone in the group had experience in live role playing, they all leaned into the experience, making the most of what the Galactic Starcruiser had to offer.

The journey they describe started with their arrival and time at the Starcruiser terminal before boarding. The environment established by the set brought them into the story even before reaching the Halcyon itself, only to be brought to a new level once they boarded the Halcyon, emerging into the atrium from the boarding shuttle into an environment that made it feel like they were really in space in the Star Wars galaxy.

Over the course of the podcast, each of the guests relates their own unique paths and some of the special interactions they had with characters and other passengers both on the Halcyon and on their shore excursion to Batuu.

A key theme that arises is the remakable level of character immersion of the cast who would remember individual passenger stories and moments, and raise those again as a seamless part of the story in later encounters.  The characters and the passengers truly interacted as real persons in a shared experience creating unique stories.  Each of the guests builds on this theme as they are asked to relate the moments that most stick with them from the experience.
